The Irish Association of Advanced Nurse and Midwife Practitioners (IAANMP) will host its 2024 Annual Conference in Portlaoise on 11 November. During the event, the Association will be celebrating 20 years since its launch in 2004, as well as the persistent success, growth, and collaboration that has since taken place across advanced practice in Ireland. The packed agenda will feature an expert panel discussion on “modernising healthcare using an advanced practice model”, a range of clinical and practical updates, and several notable guest speakers.
Speaking to Nursing in General Practice (NiGP), Chairperson of the IAANMP Melissa Hammond, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in General Practice, said she was looking forward to “celebrating the Association and its journey” since the inaugural meeting 20 years ago, which took place in the Pillar Room of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. The first gathering of ANPs was held under the theme of ‘Advanced practice leads the way: A vision for the future’, and the discipline has continued to grow exponentially since.
“We want to portray the benefit and the importance of being within our national Association, the nursing voice together, and the future and expansion of advanced practice,” Ms Hammond said. “We look forward to discussing advanced practice in Ireland, particularly with the current shift in modernising healthcare.”
