ICGP annual conference rescheduled to November

By Mindo - 26th Mar 2020

The ICGP has today announced its decision to postpone its forthcoming annual conference and AGM in light of the evolving Covid-19 situation.

The conference was due to be held in the Convention Centre, Dublin, on 8-9 May.

The meeting is one of the College’s key educational events and attended each year by a large number of GPs from across the country. This event is scheduled for 7-8 November 2020 in the Convention Centre, subject to the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions.

“General practice and the wider health services are and will continue to be seriously challenged in the weeks and months ahead. We do not want to divert our colleagues at the front line in these unprecedented times, nor do we wish to take any unnecessary risks in terms of the health of our members who are needed to provide critical care for patients,” said Dr Mary Favier, President, ICGP

The College is working “intensively” at present to support GPs in their care of patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ICGP strongly advises everyone to follow the public health guidance provided by the HSE: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html

Dr Favier continued: “As a society we are facing unique challenges and we strongly support and endorse the advice of our public health specialists. Please ensure you comply with all guidance regarding hand washing, coughing etiquette, and please ensure you maintain physical distance. These are so important as we battle this virus.

“Our doctors are the experts who we can trust so it is crucial their advice, based on medical evidence, is heeded to limit the spread of Covid-19 in Ireland.”
